The public school district in New York is hiring its first Ombuds. The Executive Ombuds Officer for Student Discipline will report directly to the District Superintendent. "In carrying out the functions of this position, the EOO is guided by the principles of independence, impartiality, confidentiality, and informality."
The district enrolls about 23,000 students. Applicants must have an advanced degree (specifically a master's or PhD in Education, EdD, or JD) and experience with education law (especially school discipline issues and IDEA as it applies to disciplining students with disabilities).
