UPenn Announces New Ombuds

The University of Pennsylvania has appointed a former Vice Provost for Faculty, Lynn Hollen Lees, to serve two years as the University Ombudsman.  President Gutmann said, “Lynn ... brings a breadth and depth of experience, excellent judgment and a record of exemplary service to the role of Ombudsman that will be invaluable. I am delighted that she has agreed to serve as Penn’s next Ombudsman.”

Lees has been a member of the faculty at Penn for 38.  She is a professor of history and served as co-director of the Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies, chair of the Graduate Group in International Studies and a member of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee. She graduated from Swarthmore College and earned an MA and PhD from Harvard University. Lees' appointment was effective July 1 and she succeeds Thadious Davis.  (UPenn Almanac.)
