University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Revamps Ombuds Office

Last summer, Wisconsin's second largest university appointed Nadya Fouad to the newly created position of Special Assistant to the Provost for Conflict Resolution. In this role, Fouad heads a ten-member Ombuds Council, which provides impartial and confidential conflict resolution services to UWM employees. 


Fouad is a Distinguished Professor in Counseling Psychology and has been a member of the UWM faculty since 1984. Among her administrative appointments at UWM, she has served Chair of the Task Force on the Climate for Women and as chair of the Graduate Faculty Council. She graduated from Iowa State University and received her doctorate from the University of Minnesota in counseling psychology. Fouad studies how people make work and career-related decisions, particularly women and underrepresented minorities. (UWM Ombuds.)
