The public university in Burnaby, Vancouver with an enrollment of 35,000 is hiring its next Student Ombudsperson. The position is funded jointly by the University, the Graduate Student Society, and the Simon Fraser Student Society. The search will fill a position held by Laura Reid since last fall.
Applicants must have a master’s degree in counseling or law and eight years of related experience (i.e., conflict resolution,
human rights, negotiation, conduct of investigations, and reporting in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment), and knowledge of relevant BC laws, academic culture, and Ombuds work. The position pays $79,529 to $94,968 and applications should be submitted by August 30, 2017. (SFU Posting.)
