The top tier public university in British Columbia has appointed Jay Solman as its new Ombuds. For the first time, the position is being jointly funded by the Simon Fraser Students Society and the Graduate Student Society. Solomon said that, “The new model demonstrates that all members of the SFU community are committed to the principles of fairness and natural justice and that sends a very positive message to our students, faculty and staff.” Solman has worked at SFU for seven years, most recently as the manager of student and community life. He is currently training for an ultra marathon next October in the Sahara. (SFU News; SFU Profile.)
