This year, Ombuds Day is October 11, 2018, and all ombuds are encouraged to celebrate the ombuds profession and use the day as an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of ombuds, highlight their value, and encourage greater use of ombuds programs. For those of you in the Washington, D.C. metro area, the ABA's Ombuds Day Task Force is hosting an informal reception from 5:30 - 7:30 pm on October 11, 2018, at the ABA's HQ in downtown DC. The event is free and open to non-ABA members. More details coming soon.
The ABA Ombuds Day Task Force is finalizing a tool-kit containing resources and materials that ombuds may use as inspiration to host open houses, arrange for guest speakers, or any other ways to celebrate that come to mind! Information on how to access the tool-kit will be available by the end of August/beginning of September.

And then there is Conflict Resolution Day that has existed for years which falls on the third Thursday of each October. This year, it falls on October 18.

DeleteBut seriously, IOA has lost its management company and is issuing multiple RFP's for some of it's core activities. Meanwhile, regional groups (ENOHE, Midwest, Cal Caucus) are seeing robust growth. Then the ABA (Americanf#ckingBarAssociation!) proclaims Ombuds Day.
I don't know what the problem is, but the symptoms are too many to ignore.
