COFO Opens Registration for 2020 Conference

The Coalition of Federal Ombudsman has announced more details for its 2020 Annual Conference: "Supporting Others, Supporting Each Other." The virtual event will take place Friday, October 16, 2020, from 8:45 am to 5:15 pm (Eastern) and is free and open to all. The agenda is primarily aimed at federal ombuds practitioners of all models, but includes information and sessions which may be of interest to ombuds and ADR practitioners anywhere, as well as those interested in these fields. 


The full schedule and agenda will be finalized shortly. Presenters and sessions are expected to include:
  • Megan Hunter of the High Conflict Institute, on working with high-conflict people
  • Fred Wright and David Miller, presenting and taking questions on their Journal of the International Ombudsman Association article, “An Initial Enquiry Towards a Model of Supervision and Support for Organisational Ombudsmen”
  • The “Ombuds Unity Panel,” a discussion of cross-model collaboration for the ombuds profession, featuring:
    1. Liz Hill – American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Council member and Past Co-Chair, ABA DRS Ombuds Committee
    2. Chuck Howard – Executive Director, International Ombudsman Association
    3. Jon Lee – Co-Chair, ABA DRS Ombuds Committee
    4. Robin Matsunaga, President, United States Ombudsman Association
    5. Paul Sotoudeh, Chair, COFO
  • Cynthia Pyle on mindfulness and self-care
  • The COFO Mentoring Committee, on data, stories, and lessons about mentoring gathered from the first two years of the COFO Mentoring Program
