VCU has hired Frank Baskind, Ph.D., as its new Ombuds for faculty, staff and postdocs. Most recently, Baskind served as dean of the VCU School of Social Work. He was awarded a Bronze Star for service in Vietnam and completed a 21-year career in the Army Reserves as a lieutenant colonel in Civil Affairs. Baskin earned his Masters in Social Work and Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut, West Hartford. The VCU Ombuds program was established in 2006, and Baskind is the second person to occupy the post. Provost Stephen D. Gottfredson said the campus was fortunate someone with Baskind's skill and integrity.
