University of Michigan Ombuds Posts 2013 Annual Report

Tom Lehker, UM Ombudsman for students, says that his office handled 217 cases in the 2012-13 academic year.  Nearly two-thirds of cases involved academic issues.

In addition, the report listed some of the work on systemic issues over the year:
The Ombuds Office has worked with a number of units across campus (schools and colleges, and departments) to create and/or update policies and procedures to better serve student needs.
• The Ombuds has developed and strengthened relationships among units to enhance the student experience.
• The Ombuds has done significant work on technology issues on campus impacting the student experience, especially given the Google roll-out.
