SFU's Ombudsperson, Jay Solman, reports that 440 students sought his services in 2015, an increase of 47 cases from 2014. Solomon believes that the growing demand (cases have nearly doubled since 2009) is linked to a greater awareness of how the office helps
students and an increase in the number of referrals to the office. Over 80% of students were referred by someone else on campus.
In addition to case data, the annual report also lays out four systemic recommendations. (SFU Ombuds 2015 Report.)
