The public university in Orem has named Talatou Abdoulaye as its first full-time Ombudsperson, serving the entire campus. He succeeds Maren Turnidge who had been the UVU Student Ombuds on a part-time basis since 2013.
Abdoulaye previously was a mediator for the Utah state courts and was an instructor and researcher at the University of Utah. He earned his PhD in Education, Culture and Society, and Conflict Resolution and Mediation at the University of Utah. Abdoulaye is a certified federal court interpreter for Songhay (Mali), Zarma (Niger), Bambara (West Africa), and French. (LinkedIn.)
