European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Appoints Experienced Ombuds

The multilateral developmental investment bank based in London has named Deniz Ogretir as its next Ombuds, succeeding Asha Singh Williams. For the past four years, Ogretir was the Ombudsman for the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific for the International Committee of the Red Cross. In his new role as EBRD Ombuds, he will serve 3,500 employees at three dozen international sites. The appointment is for an initial term of three years and may be renewed for an additional two years.

Ogretir has a decade of ADR experience as an Ombuds, mediator, and arbitrator and has been active with IOA and other professional associations. He graduated from the University of Edinburgh, earned an MS at the University of Manchester, and completed a post-graduate professional diploma in ADR at Universiteit van Amsterdam. (LinkedIn.)

  2. It is often so difficult to find Ombuds jobs. There does not seem to one central place they are advertised, like in other professions.
    It would be nice if IOA maintained a classified site only for members and educated potential employers to let IOA know when they have a job opening. These organizations are not getting the best candidates if only a few see their job openings.
    Come on IOA leaders.

    1. I can't really fault IOA for their lack of a job board. It's difficult and time consuming to locate the jobs that I post and it takes some discretion to weed out postings for classical/advocate ombuds jobs. Employers almost never reach out to ask for me to post their position--maybe one in 100. Personally, I would prioritize other tasks for our volunteers and paid staff.
