The private university in Houston, TX has appointed Anne Schnoebelen as its first Faculty Ombuds. She will serve about 1,000 instructional faculty and practice to IOA standards. Schnoebelen is an emeritus professor of music and has been a member of the Rice faculty since 1974.
Schnoebelen was an original member of the Shepherd School, Rice's school of music, and has held a variety of administrative posts, including Interim Dean. Her research interests include Italian Baroque sacred music, Italian secular cantatas, Bolognese music of the 17th and 18th centuries, Bach, Beethoven, and performance practices. She gradauted from Rosary College and earned a masters and PhD at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. (Rice Ombuds.)
