Job Posting: City of Seattle
As promised by Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan in September, the city has opened a search for a Director of a new Office of Employee Ombud. "The Office of the Employee Ombud (OEO) will operate beginning 2019 with the mission to support employees experiencing a workplace that conflicts with the City of Seattle's workplace expectations meant to create an inclusive, safe, and welcoming workplace environment." Reassuringly, the job duties including "preserving employee confidentiality," an ethical tenet of Ombuds practice that was notably missing from Mayor Durkan's first announcement.
Applicants must have professional experience and "a demonstrated knowledge in conflict resolution, case management, and customer service." No particular educational requirement is listed. The position pays $86,652-$130,019 annually and the review of applications begins on December 4, 2018. (GovernmentJobs.com.)

I'm sorry this went up after the priority application deadline. I just learned about the job posting today.In my defense the job posting only uses 'ombud' and never 'ombudS', 'ombudSman', or 'ombudSperson.' Thus, it escaped my regular searches.
ReplyDeleteI was very confused over this posting. I saw it the day it went live, and it was removed the same day and I was unable to apply. It had the 12/5 deadline but the listing on the city’s website was removed the day it posted. Maybe it was a glitch?
