U.S. Green Building Council Selects an Experienced Ombuds

Scott Deyo, CO-OP moves from the Department of Energy to USGBC to serve as its first Ombuds. Deyo will provide the service as an external consultant through Deyo Ombuds Solutions, LLC. The part time position will allow him to develop his other interest as a photographer.

Deyo brings significant experience to the job. In addition to his latest stint at DOE, he has been an Ombuds at the Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, and National Park Service. He is past president of the Coalition of Federal Ombuds. Deyo graduated from James Madison University and earned an MS in Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
