Prairie View A&M University Names Inaugural Ombuds

In October 2023, Aundrea Cudjoe-Jackson was selected to serve as the first Ombudsperson for PVAMU. In this new position, Cudjoe-Jackson reports directly to the President & CEO and provides services to about 540 faculty members at the largest HBCU in Texas.

Cudjoe-Jackson brings two decades of legal and teaching experience to the position. She has been an attorney in private practice and also an Adjunct Profession at the College of Health Care Professions. She has also been a volunteer community mediator in Harris County. Cudjoe-Jackson graduated from Oklahoma State University and earned a JD at Cooley Law School. (LinkedIn.)

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
