Job Posting: Prairie View A&M University

PVAMU, the large public HBCU in Texas has opened a search for its first Ombudsperson. The new position will report directly to the President & CEO and provide services to about 540 faculty members. The Ombuds is expected to follow IOA standards.

Applicants must have a Master's degree in a related field and experience in higher education, including four years of related experience. Preferred qualifications include Ombuds training and experience, and CO-OP status. The position will pay a minimum of $78,763 per year ("may pay more ... depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate). The position will be open until filled. Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
