Higher Ed Bill Held Up, Accreditation Ombuds Proposal Unresolved

Congress continues to work on a long-delayed bill to reauthorize the Higher Education Act. With only a few weeks of floor time remaining, negotiations are now focused on the role of state funding, and new programs for historically black colleges and universities. The House proposal for a higher education accreditation Ombuds remains an unresolved issue; the Senate version does not include the provision.
