The University of California Berkeley has created a new student award to honor Harry Reed, the former Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Ombudsperson. The annual award in the amount of $5,000 will be given to two SAGE (Student Achievement Guided by Experience) Scholars. Reed was a longtime employee at LBNL and established the Lab’s diversity office in 1993. In 2006, he was named the Lab’s Ombuds. Reed passed away on July 20, 2009.
