Kim Morgan, the Ombuds for the community college in Thunder Bay, Ontario, reported that her office assisted 63 students this past fall. She noted that many students displayed signs of “culture shock” for various reasons--technology, home sickness, program expectations, physical illness, etc. Building on these observations, Morgan offered advice on identifying and referring students in need of assistance.
