Meet the New Ombuds at Karolinska Institutet

A new website introduces John Håkansson and Nazira Hammoud Shahwan, the Student Ombuds for Medicinska Föreningen, the largest student union at the medical university in Stockholm: Karolinska Institutet.

As Doktorandombudsman, Håkansson works with doctoral students and post-docs, and has been in the role since November 2014. Previously, he worked in student affairs at Södertörn University after earning his bachelor's degree. As Studentombudsman, Shahwan has worked with undergraduate students since October. She has held a variety of student affairs and administrative positions since also graduating from Södertörn University.

Here's a  description of their work from the new website:
The Doctoral Students Ombudsperson provides the doctoral students with independent information about rules and regulations at Karolinska Institutet as well as assist and support doctoral students in some kind of conflict with the department. The Doctoral Students’ Ombudsman is an independent expert employed by Medicinska Föreningen to support the doctoral students. Please note that the Doctoral Students’ Ombudsman works under complete confidentiality, unless explicitly told otherwise by the doctoral student that seeks advice.
