The UT College of Medicine and Life Sciences has named Maurice Manning as its first-ever Ombuds for about 700 medical students. Manning is a Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Cancer Biology. He has been widely recognized for his excellence in teaching having received the Deans Award for Teaching Excellence. He attended college and earned advanced degrees from University College Galway, Ireland.
Previously, Toledo had an Ombuds only for undergraduate students, but the office now appears defunct. (uToledo Wired.)
