Loyola Marymount University Appoints Interim Ombuds

Jacqueline Villafañe will serve as an interim Ombuds for faculty and staff at LMU, the private Jesuit university in Los Angeles, while Johnny Armijo fulfills an active duty requirement with the Air Force Reserve from October 2025 through May 2026. Villafane is a current member of the IOA Board of Directors and has also been an Ombuds for the American Red Cross, The MacArthur Foundation, and University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, among other organizations. Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
