Organizational Ombuds in higher education are following their constituents into social media and establishing Facebook pages to boost awareness and to diversify the ways of offering resources.
In the past several months, the following Ombuds Offices have created Facebook pages:
- Chicago State University
- Georgia State University
- National-Louis University
- Princeton University
- Southern University
They join other Facebook pages established earlier by Ombuds at:
- Lewis & Clark College
- Northern Illinois University
- University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
- Virginia Tech
Some Ombuds Facebook pages are updated regularly with information for students, others seem almost abandoned. Some resemble personal pages, others business profiles, and others affinity groups. So far, there is no dominant model. Moreover, there are no Facebook pages for Ombuds in other fields.

Tom, PU doesn't have a facebook page. I used the places application on my phone to "check in" after being away for two weeks in Central America. It seems this create a page that I had no idea existed until this article was posted.
