The secular, private university in Lebanon has opened a search for its first Ombuds. Reporting to AUB's president, the Ombuds will establish a new office to provide a neutral, impartial, confidential, and informal assistance on university-related concerns or disputes. An
Ombuds program has been under consideration at AUB since at least 2004 and received additional attention in 2010 when a grant to the medical school included funds for an Ombuds.
In addition to an advanced degree in a relevant field and substantial experience as an institutional Ombuds and/or conflict resolution practitioner in an academic or institutional environment, applicants should be fluent in both English and Arabic. Applications will be reviewed beginning April 15, 2013. No salary indicated. (Inside Higher Ed.)
