College of Engineering at University of Illinois, Appoints First Ombuds

Professor Emeritus, Michael Hirschi has been selected the first Ombudsperson for the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. According to a tweet from the college, "This is a newly established role formed in light of the enthusiastic support from various college and faculty leadership committees." Despite efforts from various groups over the years, the state's flagship university has not had an Ombuds program since the early 1990's.

Hirschi has been a member of the faculty at Grainger since 1985 and has held a variety of administrative posts. He earned a BS and MS at the University of Minnesota and PhD at the University of Kentucky. (Twitter @IllinoisABE; LinkedIn.)
