UMass Amherst has named Carol Booth as its next Campus Ombudsperson, starting July 26, 2015. Booth has been serving as a senior staff attorney at the campus Student Legal Services Office for the past six years and taught as an adjunct instructor in the department of political science.
“We are delighted to welcome Carol to the Ombuds Office,” says Deputy Chancellor Robert S. Feldman. “Her vast legal experience; expertise in mediation, conflict resolution and restorative justice; and her knowledge of the University will be of tremendous benefit to the faculty, staff and students who seek consult from her office.”
Booth has been an attorney for more than 30 years and trained in mediation, social justice mediation and restorative practices. She graduated from UMass Amherst and earned a JD from Boston College Law School. Her appointment fills the vacancy left after the retirement of Catharine Porter. (UMass News.)
