IOA Bylaw Changes Will Smooth Membership Process

The International Ombudsman Association Board of Directors is seeking approval from its members for a set of bylaws amendments. The changes will move the association from a calendar-year membership schedule to rolling memberships. IOA voting members can vote online via proxy now or during a special online meeting August 27, 2019. Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
