The public research university Ontario has opened a search for a full-time Student Ombudsperson. The position will serve approximately 40,000 students. UWaterloo closed its Office of the Ombudsperson, which served the entire campus in 2010. The position is expected to comply with ACCUO's professional standards.
Applicants must have a relevant degree, mediation training, and five to eight years of experience.
Experience within a post-secondary education setting and Ombuds experience is preferred. The position pays $83,455 to $104,319 per year. No application deadline indicated. (UW Careers.)
For those interested, read the fine print. This is clearly a DEI hire. The office needs to align with the Universities focus on Equity. Also while they want experience, they value equity in the hiring. My guess is the person hired will be new at the role of Ombuds.
