Job Posting: European Southern Observatory

The European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere has reopened its search for an Ombuds, a position established by Camilo Azcarate in 2019. Although ESO is headquartered near Munich, the position is primarily based in Santiago, with frequent visits to various observatories in Chile and at least three months per year in Munich.

Applicants must have "extensive previous experience in similar positions in international environments"; a university degree; and fluency in English and Spanish. The contract is for three years and may be extended up to two times (In the earlier search, the contract term was five year and not renewable.) The indicated salary ranges from €62,352 to €134,856 per year. Applications are due by December 20, 2023. (ESO Posting.)
