Interview with Appalachian State's New Ombuds

The National Public Radio Station in Charlotte, North Carolina recently interviewed Prof. Jim Barnes, who became the first Ombudsman for Appalachian State University in December. Barnes talks about finding office space and beginning to receive inquiries.

When asked about the the response from faculty colleagues and students, Barnes was candid:
I’ve had some say that it’s a waste of time; that we already have established methods or routes – that typically comes from those in the structure. The faculty may or may not use something like this. The reaction has been kind of mixed. But, I guess the reaction is generally favorable.
