Nevada's largest university has appointed Law School Professor Robert Correales to serve as its first Ombudsperson. The Office of the UNLV Ombuds will serve faculty, students and staff following IOA Standards of Practice. The university has been considering an Ombuds Office since 2007, when a faculty task force recommended the idea to the university president.
Correales has been a faculty member at UNLV since 1998 when he helped establish the William S. Boyd School of Law. He earned his JD from the University of Kansas and an LLM from Georgetown University. Correales served as Legal Defense Chair of the Nevada Faculty Alliance for nearly a decade and he is a trained mediator and arbitrator.
He is also a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. (UNLV President Notes.)
