Externship: Federal Emergency Management Agency

FEMA's Alternative Dispute Resolution Division is seeking applicants for an externship.  The extern will work directly with FEMA Ombuds Vik Kapoor, who also chairs the Department of Homeland Security’s Ombuds Forum.  The Ombuds team does a range of ADR work such as conflict coaching, group facilitation, conflict competency training, and commenting on policies and practices that are impacting a large number of FEMA employees.

FEMA Ombuds focus on the Agency’s core values of Compassion, Fairness, Integrity, and Respect.  They regularly meet with stakeholders to elevate and address complex systemic challenges on a broad range of issues.  Externs also have an opportunity to take on some work from the Organizational Conflict Management program and other matters within the ADR Division, and throughout the Office of Chief Counsel, on a case-by-case basis. The preferred applicants will have a passion for alternative dispute resolution and Ombuds work.  Interested applicants can e-mail a cover letter, resume, and transcript to Vik Kapoor [vikram.kapoor @ fema. dhs.gov] and candidates will be interviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
