The Office of the Student Ombuds at at UAlberta will hire two Undergraduate Ombuds Interns. The full-time, paid positions will work with undergraduate students on issues related to academic problems, academic offenses, and student conflicts (including residence disputes). The appointments will last one year and report to the Director of the Student Ombuds, Natalie Sharpe, and work with the Undergraduate Ombudsperson, Laurel Wilkie (who got her start as an Ombuds intern).

The Office of the Ombudsman for the United Nations Funds and Programmes is seeking a Mediation Intern. The full-time internship will last three months (with a possible three-month extension) and is based in New York City. The intern will support the Mediation Unit of the Ombuds Office with training and project activities, casework, development of the Global Mediation Panel, and other administrative and substantive support.

The FDIC's Office of the Internal Ombuds is seeking two Student Trainees. The paid, part-time positions will provide "administrative support in the areas of addressing workplace-related concerns and employee engagement/workplace improvement initiatives." The positions require at least 24-hours per week during the full academic year and full time during summer/holiday breaks, and are based in Washington, DC. Interns are eligible for hire after successful completion of the program requirements, including at least 480 hours of work experience.

The United Nations agency which promotes the protection of intellectual property is offering an Internship opportunity with the WIPO Office of the Ombudsperson in Geneva. The fulltime position will last at least 6 months, extendable to 12 months, and offers the opportunity to gain practical skills working for an international organization. The intern will report to the WIPO Interim Ombuds, Rahele (Stoessel) Malanca. The expected start date is September 2, 2024.

Internship: Texas Department of Motor Vehicles

The Texas DMV is seeking a Summer Intern Specialist—Ombudsman. The full-time, paid position reports to the TxDMV Employee Ombudsman, Leah Leone. The intern "will be responsible for performing professional and administrative functions supporting various functions as a direct report ... under close supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement." The internship is based in Austin and begins as early as May 15 and ends by August 31, 2023. The office of the Employee Ombudsman was created in FY2020 and serves as an Organizational Ombuds for department employees.

Candidates should have some knowledge of Ombuds or ADR practices, and have some relevant skills. The position will be remote with the option for limited in-person meetings, depending on the intern’s location and ability to travel. Hours, start date, and duration are negotiable.

Due to the pandemic shut down, all work will be conducted remotely for the foreseeable future.
