The AOA will hold a joint conference with the Asian Development Bank and the Philippines Ombudsman in Manila on August 24–25, 2010. The two-day regional conference will present the highlights of five cross-country studies and a Pakistan specific study on various aspects of Ombudsing in Asia.
The conference will bring together the heads of various Ombuds and accountability institutions in Asia, academic scholars and representatives of non-government organizations. Guest speakers are expected to include Ontario Ombudsman Andre Marin and former International Ombudsman Institute President William Angrick. At the end of the conference, participants will be requested to identify and adopt basic best practice principles to guide Asian Ombudsman Institutions in the performance of their functions.
