The position is a designated neutral appointed to facilitate the informal resolution of concerns within the RCSD community, which includes 32,000 students and over 6,000 employees. The position reports to the Superintendent's Chief of Staff.
The role was created in 2016 when veteran educator and attorney Yolanda Asamoah-Wade was appointed Ombuds and compliance officer, an effort to ensure that the city's most vulnerable students are not left behind. Applicants must have an advanced degree (specifically master's degree or higher in education, or JD); five years management experience; and mediation and conflict resolution skills. No salary indicated. Applications are due July 13, 2018. (RCSD Jobs; Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.)
