The public school just south of Seattle, Washington, is hiring its first District Ombudsman. Highline Schools enrolls around 18,000 students in grades K-12 and employs more than 2,000 across 332 schools. The new, full-time position will provide "independent confidential and informal assistance to visitors to the Ombudsman’s Office including students, parents and community members." Inexplicably, the position description also states: "Acts as the district’s various compliance officers (HIB, Civil Rights, Title IX)."
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience (working with issues of education equity and knowledge of school district structures and procedures). Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, proficiency in Spanish/English, and legal experience. The position is expected to pay $85,478 to $95,320 per year and applications are due by August 6, 2019. (Highline PS Jobs.)
