City of Philadelphia Establishes Employee Ombuds
According to an Executive Order, Shakeya Foreman has been appointed the inaugural Employee Ombudsperson for Pennsylvania's largest city. In this new role, she will build a program to provide "confidential, independent and impartial assistance to City employees, through voluntary dispute resolution and problem-solving methods such as conflict coaching, mediation, facilitation, and shuttle diplomacy." She reports to to the City’s Chief Administrative Officer and with additional oversight by an Advisory Board of executive leaders and other City employees.
Foreman comes to the position after five years at La Salle University, where she served as Assistant General Counsel. She has also worked as Director of Climate and Safety for the School District of Philadelphia. She graduated from the University of Virginia and earned her JD at the University of Maryland.
