International Ombudsman Institute Selects 2016 Leadership

The IOI Board of Directors convened during the organization's annual conference taking place in Bangkok and elected the following officers:

President: Peter Tyndall, Ombudsman and Information Commissioner, Ireland
1st Vice-President: Diane Welborn, Ombudsman and Executive Director, Dayton and Montgomery County Joint Office of Citizen Complaints, Ohio, USA
2nd Vice-President: Chris Field, Western Australian Ombudsman
Treasurer: Viddhavat Rajatanun, Chief Ombudsman of Thailand

IOI officers serve four year terms and may be reelected once. (IOI News.)

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
