Historian: Homeland Security Ombuds Unable to Stem Erosion of Civil Liberties
An editorial by John Prados charges that the Homeland Security Ombudsman, created by the Intelligence Reorganization Act, is inactive, ineffective and essentially moribund. Prados, who is a senior fellow of the National Security Archive and author of a book about administration whistle-blowers, concludes that, "Nothing seems to prevent the Bush administration from demanding more and more of our personal information."
