Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and five years related experience or a Master's degree and three years of related experience. Preferred qualifications include: a Master's, Ph.D., J.D., or advanced certificate in mediation, conflict or dispute resolution, organizational psychology, higher education, counseling, or related fields and five years of relevant professional experience or training; experience as an Ombuds in higher education; and certification as a Certified Organizational Ombudsman Practitioner (CO-OP).
