Registrar at Texas A&M Creates Ombuds Program

Last October, the Office of the Registrar at Texas A&M named Bill Taylor as its first Ombudsman. In this new role, Taylor "assists with issues, complaints and concerns from students, faculty and staff regarding registration, enrollment, and academic records." Although generally within IOA standards, the Registrar's Ombuds will not keep confidential issues of sexual misconduct. In recent years there has been a proliferation of new collateral-duty Ombuds at Texas A&M for different stakeholder groups (these include undergraduate students; all faculty; all stakeholders in graduate education; all stakeholders in the College of Medicine; College of Engineering Faculty; College of Engineering Staff; faculty and staff in the College of Education and Human Development; those are just on the College Station campus).

Taylor is a long-time employee of the Registrar's office, where he also serves as Program Director. He graduated from Angelo State University and earned an MPA at Baylor University. Last November, he completed IOA's Foundations course. (TAMU Registrar Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
