UNISA, the largest university system in South Africa, has named Linda Mbana as its next Ombudsperson. The office of the UNISA Ombudsman was established by the University Council "to resolve matters in a reasonably expeditious, effective and inexpensive manner." Mbana succeeds Maria Peenze, who held the position for more than five years.
Mbana comes to the position with a varied resume, primarily working as a legal advisor. She is an Advocate of the High Court and has significant in fiduciary duties on boards and committees. She studied law and earned a BJuris and LLB at the University of Fort Hare, and he an LLM in Labour Law at the University of the Free State. Mbana is currently studying Dispute Resolution Management at the University of the Witwatersrand. (TUT News; UNISA Ombuds.)
