Gallaudet University has introduced Suzy Rosen Singleton as the University’s first Ombudsman. Rosen Singleton will initially focus on student matters, but will also serve as a resource for the entire Gallaudet community. The announcement from Gallaudet Provost Stephen Weiner said that Rosen Singleton’s life has been dedicated to promoting equality and better quality lives for deaf and hard of hearing individuals, their families, and colleagues. She attending Gallaudet for two years and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science at UC Berkeley and a law degree from UCLA. She has 15 years of experience in disability law, at the California Center for Law and the Deaf, the National Association of the Deaf, and most recently with the Monitoring and State Improvement Planning Division of the Office of Special Education Programs in the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Services at the U.S. Department of Education.
