Job Posting: Marshall University

The public university in Huntington, West Virginia, is hiring a full-time University Ombudsman and Civic Engagement Coordinator for a one-year appointment. This will be the university's first Ombuds, although the position has been discussed for two decades, most recently as a Faculty Ombuds. The job description implies that the new Ombuds will serve only university employees:

The roles and functions of the Ombudsperson may include, but are not limited to, assisting personnel who have questions, complaints, or disputes concerning University policies and procedures; helping to resolve conflict; consultation and informal advising; facilitation and provision of assessments and information to appropriate University officials. The office shall be informal, independent, impartial, and confidential. This office supplements, but does not replace, the University’s existing structures and resources for conflict resolution.
Other responsibilities, as Civic Engagement Coordinator, include supporting a variety of internal and external projects, partnerships, and relationships.

A bachelor's degree and three years experience are required; advanced degree preferred. No salary or closing date indicated. (MU Posting.)
