Cal Caucus Opens Registration for 2019 Meeting

The California Caucus of College and University Ombuds has opened registration for its 46th annual conference set for November 10-13, 2019 at the Asolimar Conference Grounds in Pacific Grove. The theme for the caucus is "Reflection: Power, Privilege and Identity in the Ombuds World." To accommodate the recent growth in demand, organizers have moved the event from the Kiln Room to the Fred Farr Forum, which accommodates about 25% more people.

  1. I'm a little concerned about the huge chunk of time that is not yet programmed on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. Will this be a repeat of the IOA Undebate? I don't come to Cal Caucus for "techniques we apply when working with one another." Am I alone on this?

  2. You are not alone. I go to CalCaucus to develop/learn skills for my job as Ombuds.
I believe that identity and race are important issues, but in my role as Ombuds I don't conduct one-on-one, small or large group discussions on identity or diversity and see no strong need for these skills.
