Northwestern University Lures Experienced Ombuds

Sarah Klaper will become Northwestern's first University Ombudsperson on August 1, 2021. She moves from Northern Illinois University, where she has served in the same position since 2012. Klaper will serve about 30,000 faculty, staff, and students, including those at campuses in Evanston, Chicago, and Qatar. She will report to the provost and practice to IOA standards.

The chair of the search committee said, “The committee was especially impressed by Sarah’s deep understanding of the role of a university ombudsperson, her articulation of thoughtful strategies to deal with different types of hypothetical situations, and her confidence in the principles of organizational ombuds work.” (Northwestern News.)
