Tessa Byer has been selected as the new Ombuds for Staff at Clemson. She joins University Ombudsman for Faculty and Students, R. Gordon Halfacre, and the Ombudsman Assistant, Glenda L. Dickson. “With training and experience in ombudsry, mediation, and conflict resolution, Tessa Byer brings significant talent to Clemson. Coupled with her familiarity with higher education, she makes a perfect addition to our ombuds staff,” said Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Bob Jones.
Byer comes to the position with several years of mediation and other experience, including an internship at the USDA Ombuds office and working as the office administrator for the Ombuds at Boston University. She has also been an adjunct professor of mediation at Brandeis University. Byer graduated from Belmont University and earned Master's degrees from from Auburn University and Brandeis. She was a speaker at the 2016 IOA conference and published research in the Harvard Negotiation Journal in 2017. (Clemson News; LinkedIn.)
