Job Posting: Salk Institute for Biological Studies

The scientific research institute located north of San Diego, California, is hiring its first Ombudsperson. The part-time position will work with all faculty, staff, postdoctoral trainees and students with academic and/or administrative issues and disputes. The Ombuds will report to Office of the Chief Science Officer and practice to IOA standards. 

Applicants must have a Masters in a relevant field, JD or equivalent combination of advanced education and experience; at least ten years of relevant professional experience (including at least five years as a  Ombud or professional mediator, conflict resolution specialist, attorney with relevant conflict resolution experience, organizational development professional, or equivalent). Preferred qualifications include CO-OP designation, experience in an academic environment or other shared governance model, and mediation and ADR experience outside an Ombuds function.
