Association of Higher Education Ombudsmen of Quebec Names 2025 Leaders

AOESQ (Association des ombudsmans en enseignement supérieur du Québec) has selected its next executive team. They are "committed to promoting fairness, procedural justice, and respect for rights in higher education institutions."

The new officers are:

President – Julie Boncompain, Ombudsman at Polytechnique Montréal
Vice-President – Caroline Roy, Ombudsman at the Université de Montréal
Secretary-Treasurer – Marianne Leblond, Assistant Ombudsman at the Université de Montréal

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
